I have a habit. Bad habit, my mom says. I say, a gift.

Every time I have a blank stare, I don’t know why, there is an unconscious desire to gently squeeze my upper lip with my thumb and pointing finger. As I plant my earphones into my ears, I immediately sink into the world of thoughts while continuously rub my upper lip with my thumb.

Every instance where (film score) music hits my ears I’m carried away to this realm where there are fragments of imagination embellished by characters, conflicts, tragedies, dramas, actions, romance, etc. In the end music plays the role of a guide to my visualizations of fiction, most of which have beginnings from my childhood dreams.

There has been dozens of stories collected and buried inside my mind. Therefore it's time to project my reverie which I shall call:

T H U M B A L I P, as short for Thumb and Lip.

With some help from my creative friends (which will be announced later on, when I have their consent to publish),

T H U M B A L I P will be a platform to gather fictional stories that have been imprisoned from my mind. (Before it’s too late to set them free!)

These writings are still being put together and developed, but at least the website is up and running – well not really, it’s actually still under construction – and there is an active Twitter account: @thumbalip.

Setiap kali saya merenung, entah kenapa, ada hasrat yang tidak disadari untuk menjepit lembut bibir atas saya dengan jempol dan jari telunjuk. Tanamkan earphone pada kedua lubang telinga, saya pun langsung asik tenggelam dalam pikiran sendiri, sembari tak hentinya meneruskan kebiasaan “buruk” mengusap-usap bibir dengan jempol tangan. (Buruk, kalau jempol kaki).

Tiap kali mendengar musik (scoring film pada umumnya) saya terbawa pada dunia yang berupa kepingan-kepingan imajinasi dihiasi tokoh-tokoh, konflik, tragedi, drama, laga, cinta, duka dan suka. Musik akhirnya berperan sebagai pembimbing visualisasi cerita-cerita fiksi yang berawal dari khayalan masa kecil saya.

Sudah puluhan cerita terkumpul dan tertumpuk sesak di benak ini. Maka dari itu sudah saatnya projek lamunan saya; Jempol dan Bibir, atau Thumb and Lip untuk segera direalisasi.

Dengan bantuan beberapa teman-teman kreatif (akan saya umumkan ketika sudah mendapat izin dari mereka),

T H U M B A L I P merupakan wadah untuk menampung cerita-cerita fiksi yang selama ini terkurung, sebelum keburu kadaluwarsa. Cerita-cerita itu sendiri masih disusun, namun setidaknya sekarang sudah ada website (dengan status: Under Construction) dan username Twitter nya: @thumbalip.
